Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
Release Date: January 3rd 2012
Publisher Australia: Murdoch Books. America: Harper Collins

My Rating: 4/5 stars

From Goodreads: "Aria has lived her whole life in the protected dome of Reverie. Her entire world confined to its spaces, she's never thought to dream of what lies beyond its doors. So when her mother goes missing, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland long enough to find her are slim.

Then Aria meets an outsider named Perry. He's searching for someone too. He's also wild - a savage - but might be her best hope at staying alive.

If they can survive, they are each other's best hope for finding answers."

*Check out my 300 follower giveaway for your chance to win!*

Blogspiration is hosted by Kristin at Growing Up YA and Sarah at Saz101. Blogspiration fuels my insane obsession with Pinterest. I know Pinterest was mentioned last week, and it will probably be mentioned the next week and the next week. So I apologise. But the same as last week, I also found this on Pinterest:

Review: Legend by Marie Lu

Legend by Marie Lu
Release Date: November 29th 2011
Publisher: Penguin Group
Edition: Paperback, 295 pages
Goodreads | Amazon | Book Depository

My Rating: 5/5 stars

From Goodreads: "What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic's wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic's highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country's most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.

From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths - until the day June's brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family's survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias' death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.

Full of nonstop action, suspense, and romance, this novel is sure to move readers as much as it thrills."

I have been recommended this book on more than one occasion since its release in November and I finally picked it up with some Christmas money (before the book buying ban).

*Spoiler alert* Legend follows the story of June and Day, two people from opposite ends of the spectrum. June is one of the brightest kids, scoring the top most score on her test. Day on the other hand failed and was to never see his family again. For reasons unknown, Day is the Republic's most wanted criminal.  He does not carry guns, nor does he kill. That is until June's brother gets caught up chasing Day from a break in. Day is wounded and Metias wont give in. So in Day's last few minutes on consciousness he throws his knife. A killing blow, ripping June from her last living relative.

June is the kind of smart that Brennan from Bones is, she isn't quite sure of the social standard and can come off like she is being a smart alec. She was bumped up to their equivalent of university by 4 years and graduates in half the time of any other student.

Day is in hiding from the soldiers but he needs to take care of his family. The family he was forced to leave. He and his friend Tess are almost constantly together and watching his family. If his family gets the red cross on their door, it means they have the plague and are destined to die. One night Day sees his family's door get a red cross. But instead of the usual red cross there's has a line down the middle. Very strange. And this is where the story starts to get really interesting!

I found myself loving and hating both of the characters many times in this book. That is what makes this story so unique. In many books we love the two main characters or even just one of them the entire way through a story. But not Legend! Marie Lu has created a relationship between her readers and the two characters unlike anything I have experienced before, this is what makes Legend unique.

Legend is fast paced and action filled. I finished it in one sitting, it was just too good to split over a couple! Marie Lu has left me pining away for more!

If you haven't already read Legend, I highly recommend it!

Happy reading!

The Versatile Blogger Award!

The very lovely Kristin at Growing Up YA has just awarded me the Versatile Blogger Award! Thanks so much Kristin!

This is my first official Blogging Award! How exciting! I was awarded one a while back, but I didn't fit the criteria so it didn't really feel right! Anyway's here is how this works:

1. Thank and link the blogger who awarded you (done and done!)
2. Share 7 random facts about yourself
3. Spread the love by passing the award to five other bloggers, and be sure to let them know

7 Random Facts About Me:

1. Peter Pan was my all time favourite movie growing up. I'm sad to say, not the Disney version, but the 2003 release with Jeremy Sumpter

2. I have (probably an unhealthy) obsession with Pinterest. But it just has everything I never knew I always wanted or always wanted to do!

3. I don't particularly like airports. Ok I hate them, I really really do! Which is going to make number 4 very interesting..

4. I am planning a trip to Europe next year! Cannot. wait. Going to take Europe by storm I am! Though may need to acquire an e-reader or borrow my dad's. Could you imagine? A whole MONTH without reading? *Gasp!*

5. I love Modern Family. One of the best shows to sit down and watch and not have to think about. Don't ask me to choose a favourite character though, it changes nearly every episode!

6. I buy books when they are first released because I need them right then and there, but I won't actually get around to reading them for ages!

7. I usually like to buy my books, but since becoming a book blogger I just can't afford to buy every book I want. I have been making great use of my library, I visit frequently and borrow more than I can read sometimes. It's like going on a book buying binge but without any money being spent!

Now for the 5 bloggers I would like to pass the award on to!
Taneika @ Flipping Through the Pages: One of my first blogging friends, who lives in WA, just like me! One of these days we will actually meet, hopefully in a bookstore!

Sophie @ Born to Buy: She isn't a book blogger, but she is a dedicated beauty blogger with lots of great reviews!

Farah and Juhina @ Maji Bookshelf: These ladies have a lovely blog! With some really great reviews up!

Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl: A really lovely blog and a really lovely lady! Check her out for sure :)

Rebecca @ Reading Wishes: A lovely and dedicated blogger, she is also an Aussie, so brownie points there! ;)

There is actually a tutorial for this... I may have to do this, I always seem to find myself at the library checking out a billion (well 10..) books with only my arms to carry them. This would be the perfect library bag! The tutorial can be found at Sew Delicious, if your interested!

So down to the Friday fun!

Question of the Week: Many readers/bloggers are also big music fans. Tell us about a few of your favorite bands/singers that we should listen to in 2012.

My favourite bands/singers change all the time but at the moment I would have to say that He Is We is up there:

Every time I hear this song it makes me think of John Green's books. There is just something about it that makes me feel like I'm reading one of his books!

Then there is We Are The In Crowd <3<3 so much love for this band!

I would love to know what my fellow bloggers love to listen too! Let me know in the comments or leave me links to your FF's!

Waiting on Wednesday #10

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. For more information please visit her blog!

Article 5 by Kristen Simmons
Release Date: January 31st 2012
Publisher: Tor Teen
Find it on Goodreads

From Goodreads: "New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C., have been abandoned.

The Bill of Rights has been revoked, and replaced with the Moral Statutes.

There are no more police—instead, there are soldiers. There are no more fines for bad behavior—instead, there are arrests, trials, and maybe worse. People who get arrested usually don't come back.

Seventeen-year-old Ember Miller is old enough to remember that things weren’t always this way. Living with her rebellious single mother, it’s hard for her to forget that people weren’t always arrested for reading the wrong books or staying out after dark. It’s hard to forget that life in the United States used to be different.

Ember has perfected the art of keeping a low profile. She knows how to get the things she needs, like food stamps and hand-me-down clothes, and how to pass the random home inspections by the military. Her life is as close to peaceful as circumstances allow.

That is, until her mother is arrested for noncompliance with Article 5 of the Moral Statutes. And one of the arresting officers is none other than Chase Jennings…the only boy Ember has ever loved"

What are you waiting on this Wednesday? Let me know in the comments or leave me links!
